Rev. Chani Getter
December 11, 2023
Last night, on the fourth night of Chanukah, I sat with family, looking at the flames, eating some latkes. We talked about the holiday and how difficult it was to celebrate this year.
Someone mentioned a tradition they heard about and is planning to start this year. “After Chanukah write down on a piece of paper how you hope to manifest light into the world this coming year. Then, pack it in with your menorah for the year, and see how that intention manifests throughout your year.”
Another family member, who works on a college campus, mentioned that at work they have a poster that reads, “What brings light into your life?” And the students put notes all around the poster.
I don’t have a lot of wisdom for you this Chanukah. My heart is broken as the world burns, and we as humans tear each other apart.
AND…
There is a part of me that believes that we can each bring more light into the world, if we consciously make the effort to do so.
That we can pause long enough to notice what brings light into our life, and take a moment to cherish that.
That we can hold the vision of peace and safety for ALL and bring that into being.
Will you hold this vision with me?
Blessings,
Chani
PS: Do you have a few minutes to help me by completing a short survey?
I know many of us are struggling right now. I offer support in a variety of ways, and I’d like know more about what people are wanting, needing, and seeking right now. If you have the time, I would greatly appreciate you completing a short survey to share your thoughts. Thank you!
